7. After creating my media magazine in media studies from years 10 and 11, i feel that my learning and understanding of knowing how to put a magazine together has allowed me to excel in year 12 when doing a magazine again. It enabled me to repeat the magazine process easily as well as bringing it to a new, higher standards wise.
In addition to this, my abilities to use such software as Photoshop has increased massively, and my understandings of more complex software has developed a great deal. I think being able to stick to a genre of magazine kept things easier yet also gave us more of a challenge due to the suppressed amount of content allowed in this magazine. Staying between guidelines of my chosen theme, colours, age range and target audience however allowed my magazine to come together smoothly.
6.Throughout the construction of this project i used a series of different technologies involving both hardware and software. These ranged from Photoshop to Microsoft word, from camera’s to computers. Each use of a technological object has its own important significance to the making of this magazine.
When overall making my main front cover and contents page, I used Photoshop to both edit and put together both my front cover and contents page. This also allowed me to edit the images and text I had also created myself to make my magazine appear both more professional and realistic.
When creating the individual parts that I was later to put together to create both parts to my preliminary magazine my use of such software as internet explorer, Microsoft publisher and paint allowed me to gain research and idea’s for my magazine, as well as make my own individual images that mirrored real school magazines, and allowed me to gain an idea of what colours and target audience i was going to aim at through the process. When using all individual pieces of imagery and text i had then created, Photoshop allowed me to piece them all together and allowed me to gain a professional edge to the overall look of my magazine.
The hardware i used however was of a basic standard. I used a school computer that allowed me the use of all the software i would need to then create my preliminary task. However i used home equipment such as my home laptop to email my own images over the my school account, as well as my own phone and camera to gain more research and capture my own images to put on my magazine.
5. Once selecting my target audience i went into deeper research to select magazines that 6thformers, (my chosen audience) would read. These ranged massively again which meant my magazine would have to fit everyons
The first barrel i jumped acrosswas to decide on the colour scheme for my magazine. When creating this magazine i decided i would keep to a mixed gender magazine. This was due to the fact i wanted to create a magzine that stuck out to the early aged music scene, as the music scene currently for younger people is at its peak at this given time. Further on from this i put my ideas together to create ‘THRONE’ magazine that promises to fit into everyones musical needs, or if not give them a sense o whats going on at the moment, and whats to come up in the future. When deciding my colour scheme this created a greater task for me that expected. I therefore decided to use a galaxy themed print as my background. I felt it caught readers attention more due to the unusual colours within the print and its contrast the the white font. The print also gives the magazine an individual, fresh vibe as apposed to other magazines. I then had to decide on a genre of music i would dedicate my magazine to. This, again, came to great distress due to the range of music taste within the target audience i was aiming for. As a result of this issue i decided to converge many musical tastes to bring together ‘THRONE’ magaizne. The fonts, colours and content i used, i feel, will help bring in a wide variety and a large range of audiences to my magazine. Its easy to read, bright, colourful and fun.
4. When creating my music magazine, i decidede to create it specifically for people age ranged in their teens/20’s. This is because its created in the direction of the young music scene scene at this point in time. I also feel that this way my magazine may inspire younger people to express themselves easier and steer them away from crimes as a way of expression.
3. Because of the fresh expression of my newly created magazine i think that instituations such and VIDE and NME magazine will distribute my magazine. I think this beacause they are similar in the age range our magazines are set out and the way the gra readers attention. I do, however, think that my magazine would make a good spin of the previsous magazines, because of its fresh feel, as apposed to nme which can be based on older bands, and vibe magazine which is modern. THRONE however is a mixture of both magazines.
2. Due to my magazine being based on teens/20’s and being pointed to the music age of today and its younger musicians, it shows a positive aspect of young people today, who are following their dreams instead of supposedly slacking off. In addition to this i also feel that my magazine expresses creation and gives a small push for younger people to follow their dreams either musically or not. However, due to social groups depending on music tastes my magazine combines and intergrates a large range of genre’s.
1. The idea of the title ‘throne’ magazine is because it gives the maga\zine instant authority, as though its the king of all music magazines. This also shows that the magazine stands out and is important among other music magazines already out there!
